2008年，臨床試驗網站，搜尋mesenchymal stem cell，找到21例臨床試驗案；
2010年1月，找到94例臨床試驗案；
2010年9月，找到121例臨床試驗案；
2011年11月，找到203例臨床試驗案；
近年來案例大幅增加，可見MSC的臨床應用，正在全球各地蓬勃發展！MSC相關研究的突飛猛進，除了帶動人體臨床案例的大幅增加，更吸引各國政府的重視。2008年美國國防部大舉投入高達70億的經費，研發以間質幹細胞修復皮膚、肌肉等組織損傷；隔年法國政府也開始進行以間質幹細胞治療醫療放射線傷害的相關研發。
